Damon couldn’t be drowning in the lake for two reasons:
- Julie Plec is too far up Ian/Damon’s ass to make him that miserable. She wants her baby to be happy, to get the girl.
- Ian wouldn’t be able to play a convincing Silas next season. They needed a far way better actor to pull that off, and that actor is Paul.
"Julie says it will be fairly quick for people to catch on to the fact that “Stefan” is not really Stefan bait-and-switch, and start looking for him. The people who know him best, obviously Elena and Damon, “will be able to catch on pretty quickly."
If Stefan and Silas were dating, i bet Damon would all of a sudden fall in love with Silas too.
